Newcastle United have identified a solution to their goalscoring woes and it isn’t long-term target Charlie Austin.
According to The Express, the Magpies are currently preparing a £15million initial bid for Marseille star striker Michy Batshuayi – who has already netted 14 times this season.
The 22-year-old currently occupies a similar role at Marseille as he would on Tyneside – spearheading the Ligue 1 outfit’s attacking with French talisman Remy Cabella behind in the number 10 role.
With Marseille currently sitting in 10th place and a long distance from the Champions League places, Batshuayi could be tempted with a ‘big money’ move this January.
One potential stumbling block which could scupper a move is interest from other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Spurs, where Michy could achieve his ambition.
Should Newcastle fail in their efforts to land the Belgian striker, it is believed Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin also remains on their radar, as per The Telegraph.
