Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has emerged as a January transfer target for Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to HITC.
Cisse has spent the majority of the season on the fringes of the first-team, but Steve McClaren did bring the Senegalese international in from the cold in the club’s last outing – an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Despite netting against the Eagles, Cisse has fallen down the pecking order since Aleksandar Mitrovic arrived in the summer and is unlikely to retain his place if the Serbian striker re-finds his shooting boots.

As a result, Galatasaray are hoping they can swoop for Newcastle’s third choice striker in January and potentially sign him for a cut-price – especially as Cisse’s contract is expiring in 18-months time.
Considering the club’s stance heading into the January window that Newcastle must sell before he can buy, McClaren may be tempted to strike a deal in order to free up funds to manoeuvre within the transfer market.
Galatasaray attempted to sign the 30-year-old in the most recent transfer window, but the Turkish outfit could not agree a transfer fee with Newcastle.
