Years of doom and gloom surrounding Newcastle United has finally taken its toll on the Geordie faithful, as The Mirror reveal Newcastle fans are the worst behaved fans in the UK.
Newcastle have issued the most banning orders by a country mile with 132 – Chelsea and West Ham are the next on the list with 79 and 67 respectively.
These figures can be slightly misleading, though, as one fan can receive multiple banning orders, so these figures do not necessarily relate to the number of fans banned by the club.
Whilst the Magpies have issued the most in total, it seems the anger and frustration on a matchday is fading, as only 13 ‘new banning orders’ have been issued. That may still sound like a large number but, compared to Bristol Rovers on 31 and Liverpool on 26, it is relatively small.

Perhaps the fans have grown tired and turned their backs on the club, rather than venting their frustration towards the manager and players on a matchday. This has been reflected in the club’s average attendance which has fallen from 50,359 last season to 48,599 this campaign.
