According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United’s chief scout, Graham Carr, is continuing his job of monitoring the lower leagues of English football.
Carr, whose job it is to pick out young talent and guide them to make a switch to the Toon Army, picked up Ivan Toney last season and the 19-year-old made the switch from Northampton Town in a deal worth £500,000.
Last Saturday, Carr was spotted in the stands of the Kassam Stadium as he watched Oxford United beat Cambridge United 1-0.
At this fixture, Carr could have had his eyes spotted on Oxford’s Kemar Roofe, who was a former West Brom trainee. The midfielder has already netted 10 times this season and is certainly one to look out for. With potential departures from the first team to come in January, Newcastle will want to make sure they have plenty of back-up just in case.
Newcastle, who are still looking to free up funds ahead of the January window, only have until the middle of next week to finalise loan deals as the Football League’s emergency loan window closes until January.
