Jamaal Lascelles claims Newcastle have been ‘battering teams every week’ and the fans need not worry about the club’s current league position.
The Magpies currently sit in 18th place, having won just one league game this season. The quality of football is a vast improvement upon last year, with Steve McClaren’s side adopting a slick, fast attacking style, but the goalscoring has been an issue.
In the past few outings, Newcastle have bossed the opposition and looked most likely to snatch all three points, but they have lacked that cutting edge in the final third to carve open the opposition’s defence and find the back of the net. The Magpies managed 36 shots against Sunderland and Stoke combined without finding the back of the net.

Despite the clear issues in front of goal, Jamaal Lascelles says the Geordie faithful have nothing to worry about.
In an interview, published by The Mirror, Lascelles said: “We need to start cashing in a bit.
“We need to get three points, we can’t just keep getting a point every week or losing. We need to kick on and start moving our way up the table.
We’ve put up some good games against some really good teams.
“We’re getting the chances, we’re getting the balls in good areas and we’re having lots of shots on target, it’s just not dropping for us – but as the season goes on I’m sure it will.

We’re battering teams every week. It’s just the goals — but they’ll come.
Jamaal was then questioned with regard to Daryl Janmaat’s injury and whether he expected to start in his place, he replied: “There’s a lot of competition at the back so I’m not going to be expecting to play, but I’m ready if needed.”
