Steve McClaren is set for a welcome, triple injury boost ahead of his side’s game with Norwich City this weekend, according to the Shields Gazette.
Daryl Janmaat, who wasn’t able to join up with the Dutch squad ahead of their internationals, is set to be fit for the weekend.
Paul Dummett may also be part of any squad this Sunday, with the hamstring injury that’s kept him out until this point in the season looking like it’s resolved.
Jack Colback is also reportedly set to be fit after missing the Magpies’ thumping against Manchester City.

On the injuries, Paul Simpson had this to say:
We’re confident that Daryl [Janmaat] will come through the week and be available for Sunday. Jack Colback has started his training, we’re hoping that he’ll be available for the game against Norwich. Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara – they’re both starting to build their fitness up and there’s a possibility that they may be involved.
Simpson also had an update on those players still in recovery but won’t be available for the Norwich fixture.
Further back down the line are the likes of Rolando Aarons, who we’re hoping will join in training next week. Gabby Obertan is still a few weeks away. Karl Darlow is a few weeks away.
Kevin Mbabu was of course injured against Man City, which makes Dummett’s return even more timely, and Simpson didn’t rule out him perhaps making an appearance this weekend, but wasn’t at all confident.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he may have a chance for the weekend but it’s possibly going to be maybe one week too early but we’ll assess that as we’re going along.

It’s sadly not all good news for McClaren, as ‘keeper Tim Krul will be missing for the foreseeable after his injury with Holland over the weekend.
A bitter blow for both Tim and the club.
