Remy Cabella officially joined Marseille on a season-long loan last night, just twelve months after arriving on Tyneside for £12million from Montpellier.
Newcastle have agreed a €9million future fee with Marseille for Cabella, which the Ligue 1 outfit will be obliged to pay if the 25-year-old makes a certain number of appearances.
While fans were slightly disappointed to see Cabella’s time on Tyneside cut short, Steve McClaren was justified in his decision to offload the Frenchman and replace him with Graham Carr’s favourite Florian Thauvin.
Marseille have today released a video of Cabella in his second training session as a Marseille player – having been pictured in training before official confirmation surfaced yesterday.
Cabella was all smiles and looks to have settled in immediately. It’s fair to assume he will not be returning to Tyneside at the end of the season.
