Saido Berahino and Marco van Ginkel will be targeted by Steve McClaren upon his appointment as Newcastle head coach next week, according to The Chronicle.
McClaren is also looking to complete his backroom staff after he speaks with incumbents John Carver, Steve Stone, and Andy Woodman, with Woodman still being linked with a move to Crystal Palace to rejoin ex-Newcastle boss Alan Pardew.
Newcastle seems set to continue looking for six new first team players, with two strikers a priority. The club is thought to be heavily pursuing QPR man Charlie Austin, while Berahino could be another option, as he is currently unsettled at West Brom. Danny Ings expected to sign with Liverpool, and former £35million-man Andy Carroll is once again linked, but would only be acquired for a much reduced price.
Marco van Ginkel is also linked with Newcastle, per the Chronicle. The 22-year-old is set to return to Chelsea from AC Milan after a loan spell that had its ups and downs. The Dutchmen made 18 appearances, struggling with injuries. With the Blues deep in midfield, van Ginkel could certainly benefit from a move elsewhere to jump start his career.
Finally, it appears that Andre Ayew is no longer a target for the club, as the Ghanaian international has been deemed too costly for not enough value by Newcastle.
