The latest player to be linked with Newcastle is the German international Andreas Beck.
Beck currently plays for Hoffenheim and has been there since 2008. He has nearly amassed 200 appearances for the club in that time. He was a permenant figure in the star studded German under 21 side who won the European Championship in Sweden in 2009. He has 9 full international caps so far.
The Russian born full-back originally came on the scene as part of the Vfb Stuttgart team who won the Bundesliga in the 2006-07 season. At that time the Stuttgart team boasted such names as Timo Hildebrand, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Sami Khedira and former Newcastle player Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Newcastle have been alerted of his availability as news broke over the weekend of his desire of a new challenge.
Talk of signing an experienced defender comes just at the right time for the Newcastle faithful as several players had to play out of position at the weekend against Arsenal.
The 28-year-old could be available for as little as £1.5 million. However Italian giants Napoli are also monitoring his situation.
