Daryl Janmaat has only been in England for eight months, since his summer move from Feyernoord, but the Dutch international has already gained plaudits for his consistently solid displays for Newcastle.
After originally attracting interest from many potential suitors during his impressive World Cup campaign in Brazil, the Magpies won the race for the 25-year-old.
In light of Daryl’s performances in Brazil, Charnley managed to secure the signing of the 25-year-old for a low-price of just over £5million – a bargain when you consider Manchester United paid upwards of £25million for Luke Shaw only a few weeks prior.
Now, with only a few months until the transfer window opens, it appears Liverpool have added Janmaat to their shortlist of potential replacements for the outbound Glen Johnson, who the Reds seem resigned to losing this summer when his contract expires.
Although a key player, in this days transfer market Newcastle should make a tidy profit, if they were to sell the Dutchman this summer.
Janmaat had originally signed a 6-year-deal at St James’ Park, so any bid made to lure him away will need to be a substantial one.
