Newcastle United have made an official pre-contract offer to Marseille’s contract rebel Andre Ayew, according to French news outlet Le 10 Sport.
Having failed to agree a new deal with club president Vincent Labrune, Ayew looks set to depart the Ligue 1 side this summer, with a number of clubs across Europe interested.
Newcastle’s offer of a £1.5million salary [£30,000-a-week], coupled with a lucrative signing on fee in the region of £2million, is expected to be bettered by Serie A side AS Roma. The Italians were expected to have submitted an offer to Ayew’s representatives today.
Wolfsburg are the only other team to have offered a pre-contract to the 25-year-old.
Having impressed at the African Cup of Nations at the turn of the year, Ayew has attracted interest from Premier League duo Liverpool and Everton, among others, yet they are yet to make an approach for him.
