Ghanaian winger Andre Ayew has admitted it would require a pay-rise for him to stay at Marseille, despite his love for the club.
“A player wants to advance in all aspects. In my head, everything is open,” Ayew told reporters.
“If I must leave then I shall. But I love Marseille. Soon we will meet about it.”
Following a string of top drawer performances at the African Cup of Nations, Ayew attracted attention from across Europe, most notably from the Premier League – with Newcastle, Everton and Liverpool all keen.
Those potential suitors were then put on red alert as news surfaced suggesting the 25-year-old would not be offered a new contract, with just six months remaining on his current deal.
The Magpies and Bundesliga outlet Borussia Dortmund have already contacted Ayew’s representatives to negotiate a pre-contract but they will have to wait, as the Ghanaian’s agent looks to secure the best deal for his client.
