Newcastle have joined a host of potential suitors, including Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, in the race for Ghanaian winger Andre Ayew over a potential summer move.
With just six-months remaining on his current deal, and current employers Olympique de Marseille electing not to offer the 25-year-old a new deal, Andre’s available to sign on a pre-contract, meaning he will arrive on a free transfer in the summer.
According to French news outlet RMC, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund have entered talks with the Ghanaian’s representatives. It is believed Andre’s wage demands are in the region of £55,000-a-week.
Ayew has previously indicated his preference is England but, with Mike Ashley unwilling to loosen his purse strings and Liverpool’s extra incentive of European football, Ayew may favour a move to the red side of Stanley Park over Everton and Newcastle.
So far this season, Ayew has managed seven goals, and four assists, in 21 appearances (all comps).
