Newcastle United have been linked with Toni Kroos but ESPN say they have another Real Madrid player on their radar – Eden Hazard. The Magpies are now the richest club in Europe after being taken over by Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, so a lot of names will be suggested as potential signings.
Kroos joining Newcastle was unlikely and Hazard is even more so given he only joined Real in 2019, let alone his lofty asking price and wage demands. The 30-year-old has made 53 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos, scoring five goals with nine assists.
Although Hazard has struggled for form in Spain, he’s featured regularly under Carlo Ancelotti this season and has three more years on his deal. It’s also unlikely he would join Newcastle over former club Chelsea if he left Real, so this story might be farfetched. Supporters on social media seem to think so too.
The Belgian international was rumoured to have a €50m (£42.2m) asking price and £416k-per-week/£21.6m-a-year salary, so Newcastle would have to break their transfer record and wage structure to sign him. It remains to be seen if Hazard would ever move to St James’ Park rather than Stamford Bridge though.
