Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall remains in contention to face Czechia after Thomas Tuchel admitted fitness checks could influence his England selection.
The England manager would prefer to retain the team that started Saturday’s 3-2 defeat by Spain. However, Nico O’Reilly and Ezri Konsa remain doubts after missing training with minor problems.
Speaking at Monday’s pre-match press conference in Prague, Tuchel said: “Ideally, I would love to put the same team out there”.
He explained that medical advice and discussions with the players would guide his decision, with further assessments due on Tuesday morning.
Lewis Hall England opportunity remains open
O’Reilly’s fitness uncertainty could create an opportunity for Hall, although Tuchel has not confirmed a change at left-back.
The Newcastle defender has already returned to England group training following his own injury scare.
Hall remained on the bench against Spain after missing training earlier in the week. Tuchel subsequently explained that he had taken a precautionary approach.
For Hall, the next step is turning his return to training into international minutes.
He entered the break after scoring in Newcastle’s 2-1 victory over Hull City, helping Matthias Jaissle’s side secure three points at St James’ Park.
England face Czechia at the Fortuna Arena tonight, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm BST and live coverage on ITV.
