Newcastle United face a lengthy wait for their next Premier League fixture after entering the September international break with a victory over Hull City.
Matthias Jaissle’s side do not return to domestic action until Monday 12 October, when they travel to face Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm BST, with the game broadcast live in the United Kingdom on Sky Sports.
Newcastle United confirmed the fixture change after the match was moved from its original Saturday 10 October slot for television coverage.
It leaves Newcastle with more than three weeks between the Hull victory on 19 September and their next competitive appearance.
When is Newcastle United’s next match?
Newcastle’s next match details:
- Match: Coventry City vs Newcastle United
- Competition: Premier League
- Date: Monday 12 October 2026
- Kick-off: 8pm BST
- Venue: Coventry Building Society Arena
- TV: Sky Sports
The fixture will be Newcastle’s first Premier League meeting with Coventry since September 2000.
Newcastle’s official ticket information notes that the Magpies won that previous meeting 2-0 at Highfield Road, with Alan Shearer and Kevin Gallacher scoring.
Coventry returned to the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship last season and are managed by Frank Lampard.
Newcastle face long international-break wait
The unusual gap gives Jaissle time to work with the players who remain on Tyneside, although a significant number of his squad are away representing their countries.
Read Newcastle is tracking every Newcastle player on international duty throughout the break, with several first-team players involved across senior and youth national teams.
Jaissle will also hope the extended break allows some of Newcastle’s injured players to move closer to returning.
The club have already been handed a fresh concern after Lewis Hall missed England training this week, while a number of other first-team players have been working their way back from fitness problems.
The latest return-date information is available in Read Newcastle’s Newcastle United injury tracker, which will be updated throughout the international break.
Newcastle’s fixtures after Coventry
Newcastle’s schedule becomes much busier immediately after the trip to Coventry:
- Aston Villa (H): Saturday 17 October, 5:30pm BST
- Crystal Palace (A): Sunday 25 October, 2:00pm BST
- Everton (H): Monday 2 November, 8:00pm BST
All four fixtures were selected for live television coverage when the Premier League announced its latest round of scheduling changes.
For now, Newcastle supporters face a lengthy wait before Jaissle’s side return to action.
The Coventry fixture will provide the first opportunity in more than three weeks to see whether Newcastle have benefited from the three-week international break.
