Newcastle United have been handed a fresh Tino Livramento injury concern after the defender was forced to withdraw from the England squad.
The 23-year-old had initially been selected by Thomas Tuchel for England’s upcoming Nations League fixtures, but Newcastle have now confirmed that Livramento has withdrawn because of injury.
The club have not disclosed the nature or severity of the problem, meaning there is currently no confirmed timescale for his return.
Tino Livramento injury adds to Newcastle concerns
Livramento’s withdrawal is particularly significant because he was already unavailable for Newcastle’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Hull City on Saturday.
Matthias Jaissle instead named Jacob Murphy at right-back in the confirmed Newcastle team to face Hull, with Livramento absent from the matchday squad.
Newcastle’s official match report subsequently listed Livramento alongside Amar Dedić and Nico González among the players unavailable for the game.
The Magpies have already been dealing with a lengthy injury list. González missed the Hull fixture after suffering concussion against Leeds United, with Read Newcastle previously detailing the midfielder’s enforced absence.
William Osula, Joelinton, Anthony Elanga, Dan Burn and Ewen Jaouen were also unavailable against Hull.
That makes the international break an important recovery period for Jaissle and his medical staff.
Newcastle face wait for Livramento update
Newcastle do at least have a gap before their next Premier League fixture, with the Magpies not returning to league action until October.
That gives Livramento additional recovery time without immediately costing him another club appearance.
However, Newcastle supporters will now be waiting for clarification over the problem and whether the full-back is expected to return to training during the international break.
For now, the only confirmed information is that the injury is serious enough to prevent Livramento joining England.
With Newcastle already stretched defensively before the Hull victory, Jaissle will hope the withdrawal proves precautionary rather than the start of an extended spell on the sidelines.
