Matthias Jaissle sends clear message to Newcastle United fans before Hull City game

Newcastle United were dealt a major blow earlier this week when they lost 4-1 to Leeds Utd. It was a setback to this team’s confidence, there can be no doubt about that.

Entering that match, Newcastle United were undefeated this season, having won three and drawn two of their five games until then. That had included games against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

So, confidence had built up that this was a team that would be competitive against everybody this season. But the matchup with Leeds United was nothing like that.

That means that doubts are suddenly starting to creep in again. Let’s not forget that, coming into the season, many felt that the Magpies could be in contention for relegation. And after four games, they have just one win.

Matthias Jaissle expects patience from Newcastle United fans

According to The Shields Gazette, when asked if Newcastle United fans will be patient towards his team this weekend, Jaissle said:

“They will. I’m really optimistic, and I’m sure that they will support us 100%.

“They have a good feeling and good sense, from what I experienced so far, about the situation, about the challenges we have, and therefore I’m really happy that we face Hull on the weekend at home.”

Yes, there have been positives for sure. The comeback draw against Bournemouth was a great example of a team that was not ready to give up, even in tough circumstances.

Unfortunately, we did not see that against Leeds United, by the time the goal came, it was a mere consolation, after being 4-0 down.

Anyways, Newcastle United fans should be aware of the position that the team finds itself in. They have been weakened this summer. And significantly so.

Newcastle United’s team is much weaker after summer transfer exits

Perhaps the early results had made us believe that was not the case. But now that we have a bigger sample size, it is quite clear that there is still a lot of areas for this team to improve upon.

As for Jaissle, it is hard to expect a manager to come in and start producing results when he has not been given the right tools to begin with.

That being said, if the results continue on this downward trajectory, it might only be a matter of time before the fans start pointing the finger towards Jaissle as well. That is just the nature of football.
