Newcastle United player currently set to leave the club for free

Newcastle United had to change plans in the middle of pre-season when Eddie Howe decided to leave. The club moved swiftly to bring in Matthias Jaissle as his assistant.

So far, Jaissle has impressed. Of course, there is room for improvement, as was always going to be the case. Let us not forget that this is not viewed as the strongest squad and the results until now have exceeded expectations.

Newcastle United have seemed open to backing Jaissle as well. Whether that be by signing players like Nico Gonzalez, Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Amar Dedic or by keeping hold of those he did not want to see leave.

Newcastle United to leave as a free agent?

According to Football Insider, Jacob Murphy is currently set to leave the club for nothing next summer. Contract talks are yet to begin with the veteran.

It is believed that Newcastle United will wait to see how he performs under Jaissle before deciding on his contract situation and the potential for an extension.

That is very interesting when you consider that Jaissle is believed to be a big reason why Newcastle United did not end up parting ways with Murphy this summer.

It is believed that there was late interest in signing him. In fact, reports claimed that multiple offers had even arrived on Newcastle United’s table.

Ultimately, though, the club decided against accepting them. That is because Jaissle did not seem keen on losing the veteran, who had seemingly already made a positive impression on him.

Will Murphy be an important player under Jaissle?

It remains to be seen if Murphy ends up playing a key role for Newcastle United this season or not. It would be safe to say that his output has decreased over time.

This is a player who scored eight goals and provided 12 assists in the Premier League in the 24/25 season. But last season, he managed a total of five goal contributions.

So, it is not hard to see why the Magpies might be keen to see how he performs under Jaissle first before even considering handing Murphy a fresh deal.

So far, Murphy has appeared in all three Premier League games this season. But he has yet to register his first goal or assist under Jaissle.
