Newcastle United player ruled out for next four games with injury

Things are looking a lot more positive for Newcastle United right now than they were a couple of weeks ago. The mood of the supporters has been buoyed by the strong results to start off the campaign.

They had been left worried due to the club’s poor pre-season performances. But Matthias Jaissle’s side have looked on point in the three games that they have played so far since the start of the new season.

A strong end to the summer transfer window has played a part as well. The Magpies were able to sign Nico Gonzalez and Matias Fernandez-Pardo in the final week before the deadline.

But this does not mean that everything is positive for Newcastle United right now. They have their own problems for sure, with one of them being an injury.

Striker ruled out for next four games

According to reports in Denmark (via The Shields Gazette), William Osula is unlikely to feature anytime soon. It is claimed that the striker has been wearing a splint and faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

The striker is set to be unavailable for Newcastle United selection until after the Autumn international break. That will mean that the forward could miss a further four fixtures for the Magpies.

Of course, that is far from ideal. Newcastle United do not have a ton of depth up top and could do with someone like Osula. He is expected to play a bigger role this season.

That rings even more true following the deadline day departure of Woltemade. That was a clear sign that Osula is higher on the manager’s pecking order.

Should Newcastle United be worried?

Well, a lot of that will depend on how the clubs other strikers perform moving forward. Right now, Yoane Wissa looks like a player reborn.

When he scored three goals at the World Cup for DR Congo this summer, most had viewed it as a purple patch of form. But he carried that into pre-season for Newcastle United.

Not only that, he is now performing during the regular season as well. He found the back of the net against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and was one of the standout performers the week before that against Liverpool.

On top of that, there is Fernandez-Pardo. If he can quickly adjust to life in the Premier League, then Osula’s absence might not affect Newcastle United much. But if that does not happen, it could turn out to be far from ideal for the Magpies.
