Fabrizio Romano drops blockbuster late-night Newcastle United transfer news

Just like that, another summer transfer window is almost over. Time sure does fly. Yet, Newcastle United have still left themselves with quite a bit of work to do.

The Magpies might have made a bright start to the season, but that does not mean that this is a great squad. There are certainly holes that still need to be filled.

Obviously, the resurgence of players like Yoane Wissa and Anthony Elanga has gone a long way in helping Matthias Jaissle make a bright start to life as the Newcastle United. But more is needed.

At the same time though, there are quite a few who might not be in Jaissle’s plans moving forward, or just not the right fit. Finding them new clubs in these final moments of the summer transfer window would not be the worst idea in the world either. Interestingly, one of European football’s biggest clubs is interested in signing one of them.

Fabrizio Romano drops Newcastle United transfer news

According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have made contact with Newcastle United to ask about Nick Woltemade on loan. He is among the options with Joshua Zirkzee if Jonathan David leaves the club.

Obviously, Woltemade is someone who does appear to have a clear role at Newcastle United at the moment. As things stand, he looks like an option to bring off the bench at best.

To be fair, he did end up providing an assist in that role in the game against Tottenham Hotspur. But it remains to be seen how eager the player is to continue in this capacity.

Let us not forget that he was one of the most highly rated talents in German football just last year. So, having to be a bench option would be a bitter pill to swallow for someone like Woltemade.

As a result, when an option like Juventus comes knocking, it makes it even more attractive. Now, with merely days left in the summer transfer window, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Woltemade and Newcastle United.

Should Newcastle United let Woltemade leave on loan?

To be honest, it would not be the worst idea in the world for Newcastle United to send Woltemade out on loan. It would help restore his transfer value, if things go right.

Newcastle United shelled out around £69 million to sign Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart last summer. But it is hard to imagine they can get anywhere near that, if they were to find a permanent home for him.

On the other hand, if Woltemade goes out on loan to a club like Juventus and do well, it is very possible that the Magpies could be able to recoup their transfer fee in the future.
