Man Utd £30m transfer news will interest Newcastle United

Newcastle United have had a tough time convincing their best players to stay this summer. Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali have already left for Arsenal, FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.

This is a club that has no European football on offer. Eddie Howe has left as well. And the strategy seems to have changed from building one of the best teams in the Premier League that can win immediately to figuring out a way to build something sustainable.

Newcastle United players continue to be linked with moves away. And Man Utd are a team thought to be monitoring the situation at St James’ Park.

Just like Newcastle, Man Utd have endured a tough pre-season as well. So, one can understand why they could be looking at ways to strengthen themselves. But fortunately, it looks like there is some positive news in this regard for the Magpies.

Man Utd turn their attention

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are considering opening talks with Club Brugge about a potential £30 million transfer deal for left-back Joaquin Seys.

This comes after Manchester United have been priced out of a move for Lewis Hall. The Old Trafford outfit could turn their attentions to Seys instead.

Obviously, this will be music to the ears of Newcastle United fans and, hopefully, officials. The last thing that the Magpies need right now is Hall leaving.

It has been reported in the media that Hall is keen on a move to Manchester United this summer. But now, it looks like the chances of that happening are not great, with merely a few more weeks left in the window.

Lewis Hall staying is what Newcastle United need

Hall should be one of the faces of this Newcastle United team moving forward. If they are indeed serious about building around youth and potential, the Magpies simply cannot afford to let go of a 21-year-old England international with the potential to become the very best in the Premier League in his position.

That is the ceiling for Hall. You do not let him go at 21 years of age if you have ambitions of establishing Newcastle United as one of the top teams in England. It is as simple as that.

It looks like Manchester United might now be close to admitting defeat in the Hall transfer race as well, if they have not already. The links with Seys point in that direction.

Of course, Newcastle United won’t be worried about how Man Utd go about reinforcing their left-back spot. Their focus has to be on strengthening their squad. Keeping the best players around is part of that.
