Newcastle United have been going through a period of transition this summer. Key players like club captain Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali have already left. The likes of Nick Pope, Joelinton and Joe Willock are expected to follow.
Perhaps the biggest adjustment will be the change of managers. Eddie Howe decided to leave in the middle of pre-season. He has been replaced by German coach Matthias Jaissle.
Jaissle has enjoyed his fair share of success in Austria and Saudi Arabia. In fact, he is coming off back-to-back AFC Champions League Elite wins at Al-Ahli. Will that convert in the Premier League? Newcastle United fans will surely hope so.
As a result, a lot of eyes will be on the upcoming game between Newcastle and Valencia away in Spain, where the Magpies are currently undergoing their pre-season camp. It will be the beginning of the Jaissle era.
When is the kick-off?
The pre-season game between Valencia and Newcastle United is set to take place at 8 pm UK time. It will be hosted at the Mestalla stadium in Spain.

Match preview
It will be very interesting to see how Jaissle sets the team up to take on Valencia. Of course, he does not have the strongest squad available.
The fans are hoping for plenty more signings over the coming weeks in order to replace the talent that has left the club this summer. Some big names are being linked.
At the end of the day, one cannot read too much into the result, no matter what happens in the game between Valencia and Newcastle United. It will give us a bit more idea about the type of football that Jaissle will want his team to play moving forward.
