Newcastle United might be looking towards a bleak situation at the moment. They have already lost two of their best players. And now, it looks like the club captain has one foot out the door already.
So, Newcastle United need to bring in quality replacements as soon as possible. So far, the focus has been on signing youngsters with high potential.
But they might not be quite ready to be regular starters just yet. Out of the four outfield players that the Magpies have brought in so far, the oldest of them is 20 years of age.
So, incoming manager Matthias Jaissle has quite the task on his hands. And it looks like Newcastle United are now chasing the signature of a player he has had on his radar for some time.
Newcastle United to open talks for winger
It looks like the club might still be looking for a replacement for Anthony Gordon. According to Pedro Almeida, Newcastle United are ready to open talks with Feyenoord for Anis Hadj Moussa.
Moussa is currently on the books at Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie. In the two years that he has been at the club, he has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 83 appearances.
He is also a full Algerian international. He has made 18 appearances for his national team and was involved in three out of their four World Cup outings this time around, although he did not manage a goal or an assist.
Newcastle United have already signed Bazoumana Toure as well but he mostly features on the left flank, while Moussa plays on the right. So, this could be the new combination for the Magpies come next season. Keep an eye out.
Matthias Jaissle has tried to sign Anis Hadj Moussa in the past
It is worth mentioning that reports have suggested that Jaissle has wanted to sign Moussa for Al-Ahli in the past. So, that goes to show that the manager rates him highly.
Newcastle United might finally be where he gets his wish of working with Moussa. Of course, it remains to be seen how much Feyenoord want to part ways with one of their most important players.
If there are positions of need for Newcastle United at the moment, one would not have a winger at the top of that list. Yet, it looks like the club are keeping an eye out on potential opportunities in that area of the pitch.
It also remains to be seen how they go about rebuilding their midfield. That department could look completely different come the 26/27 campaign.
