Lewis Hall to Man Utd transfer hint is bad news for Newcastle United

It would be safe to say that Newcastle United have already lost a lot of quality this summer. So, the last thing they need is another one of their best players to leave. But unfortunately, they find themselves in a tough position.

A 12th-place finish in the Premier League has meant no European football next season at St James’ Park. That has led to a mass exodus of their top talents. Sandro Tonali has joined Tottenham Hotspur. Anthony Gordon has moved to FC Barcelona. And there could be more to come.

Most of the talk has been about Bruno Guimaraes possibly joining Arsenal. Understandably so, as the Brazilian midfielder is the club captain but has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions.

The noise around the future of Lewis Hall has never quite gone away either. And now, there is another update on the situation that will worry the fans.

Lewis Hall transfer update is bad news for Newcastle United

According to The National News, Hall is wanted by Manchester United and they wouldn’t target players if they didn’t think they wanted to move to Old Trafford.

So, there is a strong suggestion that Hall wants to move to Manchester United. Now, it remains to be seen if the Old Trafford outfit can agree on a deal or not.

Newcastle United fans have already been worried about how this summer transfer window has turned out. They have seen the club’s best players leave and be replaced by talented but unproven youngsters.

If Hall leaves on top of that, there would be serious question marks over where this project is headed. If the vision is to pivot and build a young squad, they simply won’t be able to find a better left-back than the former Chelsea talent. In the eyes of many, he is good enough to be the best in the Premier League.

Can Newcastle keep Hall despite Manchester United interest?

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Hall. In modern football, when players want to leave, it is almost impossible to keep them.

So, a lot might depend on the level of eagerness Hall shows when it comes to leaving this summer. If he pushes for a move to Old Trafford, the Magpies might not have much choice but to facilitate it.

As of now, there does not seem to be anything pressing though. In fact, it is a Guimaraes exit which might be a lot closer, depending on if Arsenal are willing to meet the transfer price Newcastle United want.

On the other hand, Danilo of Botafogo has been suggested as a potential replacement. Once again, it would represent an area where the Magpies end up weakening if it all goes to plan.
