The goalkeeper is expected to leave this summer following a disappointing spell at Manchester City, in which he found himself as the backup option to Gianluigi Donnarumma. He has the ability to be the starter for most other Premier League teams. But unfortunately, there is some bad news for Newcastle United.

According to David Ornstein, Newcastle United are no longer considering Trafford as an option for their goalkeeper signing. The English international was discussed with Manchester City when the clubs spoke about potential Sandro Tonali deal but the situation did not go further.
Instead, Ornstein confirms that Leeds United are in talks with Manchester City to sign Trafford. The goalkeeper is leaning towards Elland Road.
So, it looks like a move for Trafford is now off for Newcastle United. One can only wonder why that is the case. But it is not good news for if you are a fan of the club.
In the eyes of many, he was the best option available. Now, it remains to be seen how they go about trying to find an alternative. It is also possible that Pope might continue as the number one.
Newcastle are going through a tough time
Newcastle United have endured a tough summer transfer window, there is little doubt about it. They have seen moves for Victor Munoz and Johan Manzambi close in the final steps.
They have also seen key players leave, like Sandro Tonali. And more might be set to follow, with Bruno Guimaraes’ exit starting to feel very likely now.
It is very easy to see why fans are starting to lose hope in this project now. The club finished 12th in the Premier League last season and have been significantly weakened since then.
So, it is very difficult to see how the Magpies will bring things back on track. Their new transfer strategy of only signing youngsters is not helping boost confidence either, as we have already seen it fail badly at Chelsea.
