Video: Newcastle United transfer target spotted at St James’ Park

Newcastle United have some work to do this summer. They have already brought in Ewen Jaouen, strengthening the goalkeeping ranks. But with Anthony Gordon leaving for Barcelona and Sandro Tonali joining Tottenham Hotspur, the outfield needs multiple additions to make up for those two departures.

The fans have been left frustrated by the lack of activity at St James’ Park so far. They had hoped for a lot more urgency after a poor 25/26 campaign, which saw them finish 12th in the Premier League and raised questions over the long-term project in place.

Fortunately, it looks like Newcastle United are closing in on a signing. So much so that the player has already been spotted at St James’ Park.

When that is the case, the move is often only a matter of time. You can see the video below, as shared by NUFC Blog on their X account.

Bazoumana Toure spotted at St James’ Park

It has been widely reported that a deal has been agreed to sign Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim this summer. The transfer package is believed to be in the region of €50 million.

Of course, there will be a certain level of risk involved. After all, the club will be relying on a 20-year-old winger, with no Premier League experience, to replace Gordon.

That being said, Toure has shown enough for there to be reason for excitement as well. He played 45 games at Hoffenheim and scored five goals while providing 15 assists.

Those are pretty good numbers for a winger getting his first taste of a top-five European league. He was widely regarded as one of the most exciting rising talents in the Bundesliga.

Well, it looks like that won’t be the case for much longer. That is because a switch to the Premier League appears to be on the verge of completion.

Toure’s Bundesliga detour before Newcastle United move was smart

Toure has been highly rated as a player going back to his time at Hammarby. In fact, he could have realistically made a move to the Premier League straight out of the Swedish club.

The move to Germany was a shrewd one though. It gave him the chance to establish himself at the Bundesliga level and show that he was capable of delivering there.

If Toure had been signed directly by a Premier League club from Hammarby, he would have been viewed as a project signing who might or might not have gotten enough playing time.

Now, though, he is going to be a €50 million addition for Newcastle United. So, at the very least, he will get a fair chance to show what he is capable of. After that, it is all up to Toure.
