Newcastle United hold talks to sign 15-goal Real Betis winger

Newcastle United had seemed keen to sign Victor Munoz. But unfortunately for the Magpies, they were turned down and the Spanish international has chosen a move to Liverpool instead.

While Newcastle United have failed to agree a deal with the Osasuna standout, they will continue to target a winger from La Liga itself. Their sights are now set on one of Real Betis’ best performers.

The Magpies are now looking at someone with 28 goal contributions last season. In fact, they have already taken the first steps in trying to engineer a move this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United have reignited their pursuit of Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli. Fresh talks have now taken place with the Moroccan international’s camp.

Newcastle United eyeing winger with 28 goal contributions for Real Betis last season

Ezzalzouli certainly has the pedigree to make it at Newcastle United. He was on the books at FC Barcelona not too long ago but was not able to establish himself as a key player for the club.

Incidentally, he ended up spending time out on loan at Osasuna as well. That being said, it predated Munoz’s time at the Spanish club.

The winger would end up joining Real Betis in 2023 and has been successful in establishing himself as one of their best players since then.

Ezzalzouli suffered a World Cup heartbreak due to injury

Ezzalzouli scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Real Betis last season. Those are very impressive numbers for a winger.

He has been a regular for Morocco at the international level as well. Ezzalzouli was expected to be one of the standout performers at the ongoing World Cup as well.

Unfortunately, luck was not on his side. He suffered an injury in a collision with one of his teammates in a friendly game leading up to the World Cup.

As a result, he had to be replaced from Morocco’s squad on the eve of the tournament. That must have been a heartbreaking situation for the 24-year-old winger.

He will need to move on from it quickly though. It remains to be seen if a summer switch to Newcastle United is on the cards for him or not.

It most definitely is an area of the pitch where the Magpies are looking to improve in this summer transfer window. Ezzalzouli would add a lot of quality to their squad.
