- Newcastle United agree another transfer fee
- AIK accept £21.6 million bid
- Magpies face Chelsea and Brighton competition
Newcastle United are in the final stages of confirming the signing of Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, in what will be the first marquee deal of the summer – and another one could follow shortly afterwards.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper is set to have a medical on Tyneside this Tuesday after the two clubs shook hands on a £24.2 million deal. Jaouen arrives at St James’ Park with Aaron Ramsdale returning to Southampton and Nick Pope linked with a summer exit.
It’s the first taste of transfer action for Magpies fans following the end of an underwhelming 2025/26 season and there could be cause for more excitement.
Newcastle United agree £21.6m fee for next transfer
The Daily Mail claims that Newcastle United are also working hard to complete a deal for AIK winger Zadok Yohanna.
The outlet reports that a fee of £21.6 million has been accepted by the Swedish outfit with the Magpies edging closer to snapping up the 18-year-old.
There are only now personal terms and a medical to be finalised, although AIK are also said to have accepted bids from Chelsea and Brighton for a similar fee. The Magpies must convince Yohanna that the project under Eddie Howe in the North East is more tempting than that of the Blues and Seagulls.
If the club manages that, there appears to be little in the way of making Yohanna a Newcastle United player.
The teenager only arrived at AIK from Ikon Allah FA last summer but turned heads with five goals and four assists in just 18 appearances over his debut campaign. A prolific effort.
European giants Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are all claimed to have sent scouts to watch the winger, with more than 30 scouts in attendance when the team beat Kalmar 1-0 in April.
AIK have made no secret of the imminent transfer move either. A statement on the club’s website confirmed that negotiations were underway, without naming specific suitors.
It read: “AIK Fotboll has initiated negotiations regarding the sale of player Zadok Yohanna. The current bid indicates a net profit effect higher than £20m. If and when an agreement has been reached, this will be communicated.”
Yohanna followed by ‘a lot of clubs’
The move for Yohanna is exactly the type of deal that the Magpies will be prioritising this summer. The club has been outspoken in a desire to prioritise more youthful recruitment and to target profit margins for future sales.
At just 18 years old, the best is certainly ahead of Yohanna. Speaking about the player, AIK head of recruitment Miika Takkula said: “There is a lot of interest and many clubs are following him. It is very positive for us and for the Allsvenskan.
“There are very high-level clubs that follow him and come here and watch all his matches.”
Manager Jose Riveiro added: “Zadok is exactly the same guy he was three months ago. He hasn’t changed in any way. He still gives his all in every training session. Zadok is doing so well.
