- Eddie Howe on Miley importance on Tyneside
Bruno Guimaraes has shown his support for Lewis Miley after sending a heartfelt message following confirmation of the Newcastle United youngster’s latest injury setback.
The Brazilian midfielder posted a supportive Instagram story after Newcastle confirmed Miley would miss the rest of the season due to another injury.
With fans branding the gesture as class, the touching post once again highlighted the strong bond within Eddie Howe’s squad and Bruno’s growing role as one of the club’s most influential figures.
Bruno Guimaraes sends support to Lewis Miley
The Newcastle midfielder has built a reputation as one of the dressing room’s biggest personalities, regularly supporting teammates both on and off the pitch. Shortly after Newcastle confirmed Lewis Miley’s injury, the Brazilian shared a message for the youngster, saying:
“Very sad for you my brother! Wish you a speedy recovery and you know that you can count on me. Love you my guy.”
At a difficult time for the 20-year-old, who had only recently recovered from another injury, Bruno made it clear that Miley would have the squad’s full backing during his recovery.
While Bruno’s quality on the pitch remains obvious, his leadership and connection with the team have also become hugely important to Howe’s project.
Lewis Miley to miss rest of season
The academy graduate remains one of Newcastle’s brightest young talents, but fitness issues have disrupted his momentum and development. Howe has consistently spoken highly of the youngster’s maturity and technical quality. Speaking before his return last month, Howe said: “He’s been missed massively.
“Sometimes with players, you know how important they are and with Lewie, we knew all his attributes and how good he is, but he’s added some new strings to his bow in recent games with the versatility.”
With Newcastle already dealing with squad depth concerns in midfield at various points this season, losing Miley again reduces Howe’s options heading into the business end of the campaign, with just three games remaining.
Miley already proving influential figure
Despite his age, Miley has already become an important presence within the squad. The midfielder’s calmness on the ball and ability to handle high-pressure situations have earned praise from both fans and the club.
Since making his debut against Chelsea in May 2023, he has shown maturity beyond his years. His absence will therefore be felt not only because of his talent, but also because of the energy and balance he brings to Newcastle’s midfield options.
Confirming the setback, Newcastle have issued a statement regarding Lewis Miley’s injury and his possible return date.
It read: “Lewis Miley will miss the remaining three matches of the season after fracturing his fibula.
“The 20-year-old midfielder sustained the injury to his lower right leg during training on Tuesday.
“He will travel to a specialist consultant on Wednesday before continuing his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team, and is expected to return for the start of pre-season. Everyone at Newcastle United wishes Lewis a speedy recovery.”
