Newcastle youngster Trevan Sanusi has endured a difficult spell at Lorient, but he could return to action soon.
A knee injury has recently hampered the 18-year-old’s progress on loan in France, but Lorient Manager, Oliver Pantaloni, thinks he will be back soon.
Earlier in the season, Sanusi was hampered by an ankle injury, which kept him out for three months.
Sanusi joined Newcastle’s academy from Birmingham City in 2023, and since then has impressed the club with his work on the pitch.
He worked with the first team during pre-season tours and made his first professional appearance for the Magpies against Bromley in an FA Cup tie as a substitute.
During his time at the club, Eddie Howe has been keen to see how Sanusi would develop, as he’s quickly become one of the club’s top prospects.
Sanusi hasn’t played a single game in the French league this season, but he has made two appearances in the Coupe de France, where he got a goal and an assist.
In an interview with Get French Football News, Sanusi told them he feels it was the right decision to come to the league due to the ‘development of English players.’
Unfortunately for the young winger, much of his time there has been plagued by injury.
With the season almost over, it’s up to Howe and his coaching staff to decide what’s best for him next season after missing a large portion of this season.
Lorient take on Nice in a Coupe de France Quarter Final, which is followed by a league game away at Lille.
