Newcastle United will look to complete a transfer raid on fellow Premier League side Brighton once more, this time attempting to prise their star asset in Leandro Trossard away from the Amex Stadium.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, who believes that the Newcastle hierarchy could once again test Brighton’s resolve.
Though, it is worth noting that the previous luring of sporting director Dan Ashworth and defender Dan Burn could make a deal difficult to sanction from the Seagulls’ perspective.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Downie said: “That’s one I could potentially see happen in January.
“The issue they’ll have there is the fact that Brighton have done so much business with them already, in the shape of Dan Ashworth and Dan Burn.
“They’ve already plundered Brighton for one big player and a director of football.”
The final piece
The signing of £30million Trossard would serve as the final piece in a delectable raid on the Seagulls.
The 27-year-old “talisman”, as dubbed by Ryan Adsett on Twitter, is now in and around the prime of his career, with his metrics evidencing his monstrous impact this campaign.
Seven goals and two assists in 13 Premier League matches have seen the Belgian international essentially equal his entire returns total of last season in 21 fewer games.
Double figures in terms of his goal-scoring efforts are now a bare minimum, with Roberto De Zerbi’s ideology in deploying him as a centre-forward now paying off dividends.
With how well he is performing with Brighton, it remains to be seen as to whether he would be looking to depart mid-way through the season.
But, there’s one thing for sure.
He’d light up St James’ Park under the tutelage of Eddie Howe, who could most certainly get a prosperous, goal-scoring tune out of him.
