Newcastle United are expected to splash the cash in the January transfer window.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, who believes that Eddie Howe’s revolution at the club could see him backed further.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Downie said: “I just feel that they’ll look at January, and because it’s a difficult window, I can see maybe one signing arriving in January, one sort of big-money signing arriving.
“And maybe potentially using a loan if they can, if there’s a player that’s out of favour at another club.”
Downie’s big claim
Having been taken over in a deal subject to around £300million by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, Newcastle do not need to worry about blowing their budget, even despite their summer spend of just over £135million.
Having built the foundation of the squad to the point where they are now reaping the rewards, Eddie Howe and co could well dig deep into their transfer kitty and cough up a respectable fee for an upper-echelon wide-man.
Fabrizio Romano has previously clarified that the club will look to add to bolster their ranks out wide, but will only move for targets if they are “100% convinced the player is of the right fit for now and the future.”
Having endured a phenomenal start to the season, Newcastle find themselves in third place, seven points off top spot.
They will be looking to carry this momentum through until the end of the season, and with the World Cup a potentially halting factor in that desire, a big summer signing could help to re-establish that powerful run of positive energy that surrounds the Toon.
