Newcastle United have cast their attention on Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma, with the signing bound to bring “real excitement.”
That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has informed GIVEMESPORT that the latest interest shown by the Magpies hierarchy is an indication as to which direction the club is “going [in] right now” under the Saudi-led consortium.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke said: “It just shows where Newcastle are going right now that they’re in the market for these top players across Europe as well.
“And he’s definitely somebody who would add to Newcastle’s attacking armoury and would bring real excitement to those Newcastle fans right now.”
“Unfinished Business”
Signing for Bournemouth from Club Brugge back in the summer of 2019, Danjuma lit up the Championship that year and ended the season with 24 attacking returns in the form of 17 goals and seven assists across 35 appearances.
The £35million gem’s debut Premier League campaign was much anticipated due to his previous stellar season, but it did not play out how the Netherlands international would have liked.
In 14 appearances across England’s top flight, Danjuma failed to register a single return. Though, he did show signs of brilliance, which prompted Villarreal to come calling.
The 25-year-old’s spell at The Yellow Submarine has been nothing short of mesmeric, with his adaptation to Champions League football proving to be seamless, having seen him net six goals alongside a solitary assist in Villarreal’s 11-game run.
Though, the project at Newcastle United will appeal to Danjuma, who can play centrally or out wide, with the star admitting that there is “unfinished business in England.”
And, at this rate, he may even seal a ticket back to the Champions League if the Toon are to continue in their tremendous stead.
