Newcastle United may look to upgrade their forward option, which would make for the departure of French forward Allan Saint-Maximin.
That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has informed GIVEMESPORT that the 25-year-old could well be the first big name to depart the club since the takeover from the Saudi-led consortium.
The insider believes that the club would receive “decent money” for the winger, and understands that the club would upgrade on their current option.
When prompted on the potential departures surrounding Newcastle United, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’ll end up being someone like Saint-Maximin and I think that makes sense because he has the potential to bring in decent money. I think Newcastle will also get to a stage where they will look to upgrade on him and move on from him.”
The Next Step?
As a result of Eddie Howe’s tactical ability, combined with a decent size budget and astute summer signings, Newcastle United find themselves in the battle for the Champions League places, in a development that has come a lot sooner than many thought it would under the new owners.
Spending just over £120million in the summer window, the Magpies made signings that went under the radar in many cases, and refrained from splashing the cash on the so-called ‘big names.’
With the foundations of the squad built though, they could afford to splash out on a flair player with greater consistency and attacking threat than Saint-Maximin, in what would serve as a logical next step for the club.
Whether Howe would fight to keep the £36million maestro is a conversation for a different day, but upgrades to the squad will likely be made sooner rather than later in order to build on this stellar momentum.
