Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope has revealed that Callum Wilson is back in full training for Newcastle.

Wilson has been absent since he scored in the Magpies’ 3-3 draw with Manchester City back in August and has missed each of the last four Premier League fixtures.

He had hit the ground running scoring in each of the side’s first two home league games and shared his disappointment (BBC Radio 5 Live via Daily Mail) after suffering what he called a ‘little setback’.

With a trip to Fulham following the international break, he looks set for a return and he could well be thrust straight back into the starting line-up amid other concerns for Eddie Howe.

Alexander Isak has been sent back to Tyneside from Sweden as the country’s medical team felt it ‘was the right decision for him to leave’ according to manager Janne Andersson, whose comments were relayed by Hope in his report for Mail Online.

The journalist also stated that Bruno Guimaraes is struggling with ‘tightness in his thigh’ although there is hope he will be ‘fine’ for the trip to Craven Cottage.

And then Elliot Anderson was forced to walk away from U21 duty with Scotland, but the reporter did stress that the ‘good news’ for the club is that Wilson is back in full training after recovering from a hamstring problem.

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell suggested when speaking to Football Insider that Wilson could join £63m club-record signing Isak on the pitch rather than one sitting on the bench, but it may be that Wilson will be needed to lead the line on his own upon his return.

As the club’s top scorer last term, he will be no stranger to carrying the Toon’s attacking burden but easing him back in would perhaps have been the best approach given the 30-year-old’s persistent injury record.

However, it appears that Howe’s hand could be forced.
