Miguel Almiron lacked an end product against Wolves

Newcastle United rescued a point with a late goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Eddie Howe won’t be happy with how wasteful his side were over the 90 minutes.

Miguel Almiron is one of many players Howe will be displeased with as he didn’t hit the target with any of his efforts, nor did he create opportunities for his teammates, so his end product was sorely lacking on the day.

Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live gave Almiron a player rating of 7/10 and said ‘at least he tried to make things happen’, but the 28-year-old fell considerably short at Molineux before being hooked in the second half.

Dominic Scurr of Shields Gazette gave the Paraguayan international a player rating of 8/10, praising his work rate against Wolves. Scurr acknowledged Almiron he didn’t do enough offensively but hailed his ‘endeavour’ to get in the faces of players.

Against Wolves, the 28-year-old played for 84 minutes, had 42 touches, completed 93.1% of his 29 passes, had three shots without hitting the target, failed to create a chance, whipped in one cross without finding a teammate, had one successful dribble, won one freekick and made two tackles.

Almiron has made four appearances this season, scoring one goal. Despite his lack of goals and assists, he regularly features for Newcastle due to his industry.
