Joelinton impressed against Wolves

Newcastle United scored a late equaliser to earn a point away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday and Joelinton came away with the plaudits after impressing at Molineux.

The 26-year-old started alongside Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff in midfield and put in an all-action display to thwart Wolves’ attacks while creating chances at the other end. No player had more dribbles, created more chances or made more tackles than Joelinton over the weekend.

Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live gave the Brazilian a player rating of 8/10 and said he did well in Bruno Guimaraes absence by turning over possession and driving with the ball from deep. Dominic Scurr of Shields Gazette gave Joelinton a player rating of 7/10 and said he provided much-needed ‘bite’ in midfield.

Against Wolves, Joelinton played for 90 minutes, had 78 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 78.9% of his 52 passes, created three chances, had two shots, whipped in one cross, made two tackles, had one interception, made one clearance, won a freekick and had four successful dribbles.

Joelinton has made five appearances in all competitions this campaign, playing every minute of every Premier League game, so he’s picking up from where he left off last season.
