Fans on social media say ‘class’ Allan Saint-Maximin is ‘unplayable’ when at his best

Newcastle United pulled off their second Premier League win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday and Allan Saint-Maximin was one of many players to impress. Fans on social media showered him in praise after the final whistle.

No player created more chances, had more successful dribbles, whipped in more crosses and only one player had more touches at Elland Road than the 24-year-old, so it wasn’t a surprise that he was given a player rating of 8/10 by Chronicle Live.

Against Leeds, Saint-Maximin played for 90 minutes, had 54 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 73.9% of his 23 passes, created four chances, had two shots, whipped in four crosses with 25% finding a teammate, had five successful dribbles and made one interception.

The French wide-man has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals with three assists. Saint-Maximin has been one shining light of a disappointing season at Newcastle and performances against Leeds are exactly why.

Next up for the Magpies is a home meeting with Everton on February 8.
