Newcastle United are desperate to strengthen their backline as they are 19^th in the Premier League for goals conceded (42), 19^th for most clean sheets (1) and 18^th for most shots faced (15.7).

The Magpies have lucrative resources following their takeover by Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media and made an ambitious pursuit for Diego Carlos.

Newcastle had bids knocked back for the highly-rated 28-year-old as Sevilla value him higher than United have offered, but fans on social media love hearing that the Toon Army aren’t giving up.

You can sense that the new owners are used to deal making. You have to show massive balls/have nerves of steel to get the deals through. It may not happen but the insistence to stay in the hunt will usually pay off, more often than not. Feels positive for the future this.

Obviously his agent and club president leaked our interest and bids in the hope the price and wages will rise. Will they sit till the last day of the window will we wait. Will another club swoop in like an eagle and snatch him after we done all the spade work. It's not easy is it

Give them 24hrs to either accept it or reject it
Then move on.
Why be held to ransom ?
If they see we are serious about moving on, & they will lose the offer 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
Otherwise we will have this in every bid for a player.

This deal will only get done if Newcastle pay around 40m which is still very good value when compared to other defenders like the Harry Maquires of this world.

Just bang £50m in each for Botman and Carlos and get both deals done. Offer them any of our CB’s on loan and pay the wages for them. Messing about with low bids when both deals could have been done several days ago. We either want them, or we don’t #nufc

Eddie Howe has Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez at centre-back but clearly doesn’t trust the quartet to keep Newcastle in the Premier League.

Carlos has made 118 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla since joining on a five-year deal from FC Nantes in 2019, scoring five goals with one assist. He’s been a regular under Julen Lopetegui and will be a hard player to lure from Sevilla, but his management team have been stunned by Newcastle’s persistence.

United are being encouraged to continue discussions with Sevilla president Jose Castro Carmona.
