Newcastle United aren’t short of strikers with Callum Wilson, Joelinton and Dwight Gayle at their disposal, but the Magpies have been short of goals from the trio – Wilson, Joelinton and Gayle have five goals between them from 1304 minutes of Premier League football.

Eddie Howe wants to fix the problem by bringing in a striker as Newcastle have lucrative resources following their takeover by Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, and Corriere Fiorentino (h/t Sport Witness) say Dusan Vlahovic is on their shortlist. Some fans on social media are on board while some don’t believe he’d make the switch.

Vlahovic joined Fiorentina from Partizan in 2018 and has gone on to make 98 appearances in all competitions, scoring 41 goals with six assists. The 21-year-old, who boasts seven goals in 14 games for Serbia, netted 21 goals in 37 Serie A games last season while boasting 10 in 13 this campaign, so it’s easy to see why Newcastle are keen.

Whether Vlahovic would leave Fiorentina for the relegation-threatened Magpies at the beginning of their project remains to be seen. And whether Newcastle would match his €80m (£67.2m) asking price is also unknown.
