Newcastle United supporters are expecting to hear the club being linked with ambitious moves for players in January as they’re the richest side in Europe following their takeover by Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, but very few believe the latest rumour has any credence to it.
Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness) are one of many Italian outlets insisting Newcastle have held talks over Adrien Rabiot. The 26-year-old has been short of form and playing time at Juventus this season and could be moved on for just €15m when the winter transfer window opens. Fans on social media aren’t having it, however.
Rabiot joined Juve on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has gone on to make 95 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals with five assists. This season, he’s made 11/16 appearances but amassed 750 minutes of football from a possible 1140, so he’s missing 50% of the action.
Newcastle have the resources to sign players from big European clubs, but it’s hard to see Rabiot leaving the Serie A giants to come to England in January. Fans don’t believe it’s going to happen either.
