Elliot Anderson posts video on IG watching Chelsea clash at St James’ Park

Newcastle United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon and Elliot Anderson was present as a supporter. The 18-year-old didn’t play for the U18s, U23s or first-team this weekend due to a hip injury, so he instead watched the seniors lock horns with the Premier League leaders.

Anderson posted a video on his Instagram story, showing off St James’ Park before the game begun, but he would have been sad with the final result. Newcastle held Chelsea up until the 65th minute before conceding three goals in a quarter of an hour.

Anderson has scored seven goals with five assists in 22 games for the U18s, scored 13 goals with three assists in 29 games for the U23s and has featured twice at senior level. The Scotland youth international has trained with Newcastle’s first-team this season, so he might get opportunities down the line when he returns to full fitness.

He’s missed the U23s’ last three games and has missed the first-team’s last three games too, but his condition has been improving. Regardless, Anderson’s development is going in the right direction, so he may be seen on the pitch rather than in the stands next time.
