Despite having Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Jonjo Shelvey, Jeff Hendrick and Matty Longstaff at their disposal, The Sun say Newcastle United may still be after another central midfielder – Aaron Ramsey. There isn’t a lot of buzz on social media, however.
The 30-year-old joined Juventus in 2019 and has gone on to make 69 appearances in all competitions, but his future in Turin is uncertain and The Sun believe he could return to the Premier League in January.
Ramsey has made four appearances across the board this season, but he’s yet to start a game and has only amassed 106 minutes of playing time – Massimiliano Allegri has preferred Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot, Weston McKennie and Rodrigo Bentancur in midfield.
Juventus are open to letting Ramsey go when the January transfer window opens and the Welsh international has interest from Newcastle, Everton and West Ham United, so a deal could be possible in the coming months. Ramsey’s wages are the only negative as he’s taking home £400k-per-week in Italy.
The 30-year-old will need to accept a substantial paycut to leave mid-season, so time will tell what happens.
