Freddie Woodman misses Watford game but watches boxing in London

Freddie Woodman missed Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw with Watford as he’s still recovering from a training ground injury, but he managed to cheer himself up if his Instagram is anything to go by.

The 24-year-old was at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium to watch Anthony Joshua’s fight with Oleksandr Usyk and posted pictures from the event with his father.

Woodman had a big smile on his face and looked to enjoy the occasion, but now he has his recovery to focus on. The English goalkeeper remains sidelined with injury and has Karl Darlow standing in his way of getting playing time when he returns.

The 24-year-old hasn’t been in the best form this season, conceding 12 goals in four Premier League games while failing to keep a clean sheet, so he might struggle to get the nod from Steve Bruce when fit.

As for Newcastle, the Magpies are 17th in the table with three points from six games and could move a few places up the league if they get a result at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. Although Newcastle are winless this season, they’ve lost only one of their last four.
