Joe Willock has an uncertain future at Arsenal this summer as he’s not commanding a starting place and Newcastle are one of many clubs interested in procuring his signature.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at St James’ Park and greatly impressed under Steve Bruce, but the Northern Echo said last week that Arsenal will only let him go if Emile Smith-Rowe signs a new contract.
An update from Chronicle Live has given Newcastle hope of landing their man, however, as they believe Arsenal need the money generated from player sales for their pursuit of Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Gunners are closing in on a £50m deal for the centre-back and could do with the £30m Willock would generate, so they might be open to a sale. Newcastle want the midfielder permanently, but it remains to be seen if they’ll match the asking price.
With Leicester City also interested in Willock there’s a lot of speculation on social media about where he’ll end up, but Newcastle aren’t giving up their pursuit by a long shot.
