Newcastle fans delighted with Ryan Fraser’s impending return

A number of Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to Steve Bruce’s confirmation that Ryan Fraser is set to return to action from injury and be part of their squad for the trip to Leeds United this evening.

Fraser has been a glaring absentee from the Magpies’ squad over the last few matches, with the winger having suffered a hamstring injury and his last appearance coming in the win against Everton at the start of November. The Magpies have at least managed to pick up back-to-back wins in the last couple of weeks in the absence of the Scotland international.

The 26-year-old has yet to find top gear since arriving at Newcastle in the summer on a free transfer after leaving Bournemouth. However, Bruce will be hoping that he can start to get the best out of him now over the festive period. His return offers a timely boost for the Magpies, whose squad is rather stretched at the minute.

Speaking to the media ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Leeds, Bruce confirmed that Fraser is ready to return to involvement after returning to training in the last week. The manager also suggested that the winger’s return to the squad will be like a ‘new signing’ for the Magpies over the next few weeks.

Many Newcastle fans are delighted with the “excellent” news that the 26-year-old is back in contention to feature at Elland Road, with some believing he offers quality which has been lacking in his absence. Others threw down the challenge for him to now kick-start his career at St James’ Park.
