Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is preparing to ask for a move away from the club this summer in order to secure regular football.
According to Football Insider, Woodman is set for a meeting with Steve Bruce to discuss his future, with the shot-stopper currently on loan to Swansea in the Championship.
Celtic have been linked with a move for Woodman in the past and could reignite their interest following this latest update.
If Celtic are prepared to offer a reasonable price for Woodman, it could be in Newcastle’s best interests to cash in and allow him to leave. Martin Dubravka has been in inspired form for Newcastle this season and has made the most saves in the Premier League.
This means that there is little immediate need for Woodman to come in and be the number one for Bruce. Dubravka is 31 and could still have a few years at the top of his game and Woodman could be forced to watch on from the sidelines unless he moves on.
Letting Woodman go, to Celtic or somewhere else, could be best for all parties involved. Newcastle could get a decent fee and still have a reliable number one, whilst Woodman could achieve his goal of getting regular football away from Newcastle.
