Several Newcastle supporters have slammed Valentino Lazaro following a less than convincing display against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Austrian forward started at right-back for Steve Bruce’s side, as the Eagles beat the Magpies 1-0 at Selhurst Park, with defender Patrick van Aanholt scoring a free-kick for the home side in the first half.
Lazaro capped off the travelling side’s misery by being sent off in the fifth minute of added time, pulling Palace forward Wilfried Zaha down in a blatant professional foul after the Ivory Coast international had knocked the ball past the defender and would have been through on goal.
Following another disappointing result under Bruce, a number of Newcastle supporters were quick to express their frustrations at the performance of both the team and Lazaro on social media, with some fans claiming that they hope never to see the Inter Milan loanee in a Newcastle shirt again.
