Several Newcastle fans have reacted to the news that Steve Bruce turned down Cenk Tosun in January as he didn’t believe he would be an improvement on his options.
The Everton striker eventually ended up signing for Crystal Palace on loan for the remainder of the season last month, having been deemed surplus to requirements at Goodison Park.
Since his move to Croydon, the Turkey international has so far scored once in three games, the same amount of goals that Joelinton has managed for the Magpies in 26 Premier League games.
Andy Carroll is currently out injured, while both Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto have yet to score in the Premier League this season, meaning that Newcastle’s striking options leave much to be desired.
However, while Tosun could have improved the club’s options this month, by virtue of being the only striker to have scored more than once in the league this season, a number of Newcastle fans had mixed responses to the club’s snub of the 28-year forward.
